Sage and Savvy Review Buddy the Bus Story App

Abstract:

Sage and Savvy says: I thought the story of Buddy was cute, as he was so happy to help his passengers, and then he’d become sad when his bus became empty. Although he knew the next day he’d be able to take passengers where they needed to go again, “tomorrow” just couldn’t come soon enough!

New iPhone Story Apps from iOrbi Help Parents Personalize Story Time for Kids

Chicago, IL – August 17, 2009 – iOrbi, LLC, a Chicago-based technology company, has released three new children’s apps for the iPhone that use the smartphone’s record feature to give kids and parents the option to override the default narration and tell the story in their own voice.

The story apps developed specifically for kids titled Buddy the Bus #2: A Scary Night, Sophia Wants To Be … A Painter and Warty the Witch and the Vanishing Voice follow the design of iOrbi’s Buddy the Bus #1:There’s Always Tomorrow story app which was featured in Apple stores as part of an iPhone promotional campaign this past spring, and received praise from customers for its unique “Record Your Voice” option.

“When we developed our first story app, our aim was to use the features of the iPhone to enhance the story telling experience for kids, so including the ability to record just made sense to us. It allows kids and parents to become active participants rather than just passive listeners. And the act of taking part in the story telling experience is what we think connects readers to the characters in the stories.” says Don Way, Managing Partner, iOrbi, LLC.

In addition to the “Record Your Voice” option, the story apps feature vibrant, full color illustrations and heart-warming stories that are meant to entertain and teach kids simple life lessons.

iOrbi uses its proprietary content engine, AppInHand, to produce its children’s story app series. Way says that the company is actively working to connect with content owners looking to bring their work to the growing smartphone audience.

Buddy the Bus #2: A Scary Night, Sophia Wants to Be ...A Painter, and Warty the Witch and the Vanishing Voice can all be downloaded from the App Store.

All story apps from iOrbi may also be found on iTunes by searching for “iOrbi”.

iOrbi Unveils eBook for iPhone - Offers Parents New Way to Introduce Children to Languages.

CHICAGO, IL-- (October 24, 2008) -- Now tech-savvy parents looking to encourage their child’s interest in foreign languages have a new avenue to do just that. The recently released eBook, Buddy the Bus: There’s Always Tomorrow, a mobile application developed by iOrbi, LLC for the iPhone and iPod touch allows children to read and listen to the Buddy story in five languages — English, Spanish, French, German and Japanese.

Studies have found that early exposure to foreign languages may actually improve a child’s ability to master his/her native language. In fact, experts believe that introducing children to another language early not only lays a solid foundation for strong communication skills, but also supports a healthy appreciation of cultural diversity— a valuable asset in today’s global economy.

“We liked the idea of offering parents a way to use their iPhone or iPod touch as a vehicle to introduce their children to different languages. While not meant in any way to replace more formal foreign language instruction, Buddy is a cute story that can be a great technique to open the door to languages for kids.” says Don Way, Managing Partner, iOrbi, LLC.

In addition to listening to the Buddy the Bus story in one of the five pre-recorded languages, parents that download the application onto their iPhone may also choose to create a customized recording of the story in their own voice. Way says, “… the record option really lets parents and kids make the story their own.”

iOrbi plans to release more stories in the Buddy series over the next several months, and will continue to offer the stories in several languages based on customer response. “We want to ensure that the languages that we offer are those that people want, and we look forward to customer feedback”, says Way.

Buddy the Bus: There’s Always Tomorrow can be downloaded on the App Store.
